Schmich and Awwwwww! Pulitzer Howitzer Mary Schmich Fires at Mitres

To say that the Catholic Church is not a democracy is to state its very nature: for Catholic believers, it is the institution founded by God to implement His will on earth. For those who believe this, it is the end of the discussion. If you do not believe this, why be interested in what the church thinks or says about anything?
An interesting aspect of these discussions is the way selective interpretations of the Second Vatican Council – which the Association of Catholic Priests, for example, claims as its principal inspiration and motivation – are employed to consider matters relating to the church as though to a political party. John Waters Irish Times April 20, 2012
The sisters are stunned by the news, sad, weary, worried.
And, for public purposes, they are mostly silent. . Pulitzer Possessor Mary Schmich

It seems nuns got stunned when Pope Benedict XVI and the lads in Pope City told Catholic Nuns here in the States that they are on the wrong side of issues, as far as the Church teachings are concerned.  Some nuns prefer the Progressive, NPR, DNC, and Secular doctrines which demand abortion, that women be ordained priests and the call for a general absolution of all same-gender sexual dalliances.  Not a huge head-scratcher that, let alone a stunner
Navy S.E.A.Ls shoot Osamas and Somalii pirates without a reference to the M.K. Gandhi rules of engagement. I am sure that if some S.E.A.L.s were stunned to learn that killing is their vocation, they would be referred to the H & R folks at GreenPeace.
Not stunning.

I was no where near stunned with the news that Chicago Tribune columnist and Brenda Starr narrator Mary Schmich won a Pulitzer.  Mary Schmick was cited because  "Schmich's stories resonated with readers and won over the Pulitzer jury, which cited her "wide range of down-to-earth columns that reflect the character and capture the culture of her famed city."
Okay.
I always thought that of Mary Schmich as the Kathy-half of the Tribune's Eric & Kathy Show - Eric Zorn being the Eric half - you know, those e-mail terms of endearment and just plain NPR fun engagement?
Mary Schmich grabbed a Pulitzer.  God bless her.
President Obama grabbed Nobel Peace Prize after his apology tour and beer summit with a cop, because "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future." I am not stunned when a no bid contract to a Canadian rail car company that buys wheels made in China gets a limited bit of attention, while Chicago media  wets its britches over the dead blond kid with the sport coat flipped over his shoulder, because the guy who punched him dead has Clout DNA.
The Chicago Tribune editorial board and its columnists like Eric Zorn and the always laughable religion writer Manya Brachear are firing shots at Catholics in order to keep our heads down and mouths shut.  Manya produced an idiotic report of faux outrage and a possible tax-suit against Peoria's Catholic Bishop Jenky who preached about the continued war on Faith from the Obama regime.  Manya hooked up with Huffington Post columnist and veteran Democratic operative who happens to be the regional head of the Anti-Defamation League and no less a goofball than the Rev. Barry Lynn, a mainline Bill Moyers approved parser on matters of Faith and government.
When Manya's dribblings were laughed to depths of the Trib's cyber pages, the deep thinkers trotted out a Pulitzer howitzer to fire at mitres!
Schmich and awwww!
I am only stunned when I bring home left over carrot cake from Gibson's and open the fridge to learn that it escaped my son's gullet.
Stunned nuns are a whole nuther kettle of smelt.
Let's see who's stunned . . . "Please don't quote me," one Chicago nun said after she shared her feelings Friday. "Please don't quote me."  Stunning.
Yet, again!  "It's not cowardice," said another, asking not to be named. Un-named stunned nuns.
In Pulitzer worthy balance. Ms. Schmich names an un-stunned nun:
Not all nuns feel that way. Sister Anne Flanagan, who belongs to the Daughters of St. Paul, thinks the Vatican has a point.
"It's a signal of how important religious women are to the ministry of the church," she said. "The Vatican is saying get back on track on some of these issues; don't lose the value of what you're doing for the sake of a dream."
She admits she's in a minority
That said our 2012 Pulitzer Proprietress quotes Sr. Donna Quinn, who is more responsible for media attention than any one nun by with her helping Planned Parenthood murder more Illinois babies and bragging about it. Schmick quotes Quinn from an earlier pronouncement about condemning the Church that houses, feeds and insures Sister Quinn.

As Sister Donna Quinn of Chicago was quoted saying recently, "You cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube."
Now, that's Schmich and Awwwwww with a huge layer of WTF??????????????

You follow?

Me neither.  We don't get stunned much unless we hang around with septuagenarian contrarian nuns and when we find that left-over piece of Gibson's carrot-cake somehow escaped the maw of our twenty something sons and daughters.

Antonement - NY District Goes GOP - Rev. Al Goes on MSNBC - Makes Sense?

"I'll never get the majority of Jewish votes. It's only because I have a moral center." Rev. Al Sharpton 2001.

Maybe it's me, but I think that the only center Rev. Al worries about is the Carmelo goodness of a Dove nugget, or the core of his "Non-Profit" Empire. (Aside) " Everything cool with IRS, since Bush left out, Rev.?"

Here's the tempest in the borscht bowl

Weprin became embroiled in New York-centric disputes over Israel and gay marriage, which cost him some support among Jewish voters.

Orthodox Jews, who tend to be conservative on social issues, expressed anger over Weprin’s vote in the Assembly to legalize gay marriage. In July, New York became one of six states to recognize same-sex nuptials.

The same folks who defend the Unborn, defend Marriage and defend Israel. Must be something to that Trinity.

Non-practicing secular Jews, like secular Catholic lefties, and the Progressive Protestant main-line Churches ( Reformed Methodist, United Church of Christ & etc.) are the cultural base of the Democratic Party at the National Level ( the DNC). They love in this order

1. Abortion

2. Racial Ethnic and Sex Segmentation (Arabic, African, Pacific Islander, Inuit, Caledonian, Alsatian, Homosexual, Heterosexual, Pan-Sexual and Sexual Neutral)

3. ACLU vision of Justice

4. Black Anger

5. Government Economics

6. Anti-military everything

7. Hegelian Secular Education

8. Eradication of History, Literature and Culture

Everything else is an adjunct.

Yesterday, DNC memes pre-empted the victory of Bob Turner over Democrat Welprin in the special election for pecker-obsessed Anthony Weiner's (MSNBC NY) Congressional seat with a stamp of the foot that this was not harbinger of One and Out for President Obama it was just religious Jew acting out.

This from David Weigel of The Slate:

Earlier today I talked to Brian Brown, the president of the National Organization for Marriage, about that group's effort in the district. They sent out 70,000 pieces of mail in a race that may only have 30,000 voters.
"I don't think anyone familiar with this district believes that Orthodox Jewish voters are turning on Weprin because of Israel," said Brown. "The real reason is Weprin's support for same sex marriage, especially the use of his Orthodox faith to justify it."

Here is the point of view of DNC icon Henry 'The Wingman' Waxman ( General Electric, CA)

“I think Jewish voters will be Democratic and be for Obama in 2012, especially if you get a Republican candidate like [Texas] Gov. [Rick] Perry,” he said. “But there’s no question the Jewish community is much more bipartisan than it has been in previous years. There are Jews who are trending toward the Republican Party, some of it because of their misunderstanding of Obama’s policies in the Middle East, and some of it, quite frankly, for economic reasons. They feel they want to protect their wealth, which is why a lot of well-off voters vote for Republicans.”
The Hill

Henry Waxman according to his biography is Jewish. Waxman is Jewish in the same way that Dick Durbin, the Young Kennedys (post RFK variety), Georgetown University, University of Notre Dame, Richie Daley, and Kathy Sebelius are Catholic - when it is time to court the Knights of Columbus. Durbin, Daley, The Young Kennedys,Georgetown University, University of Notre Dame, Richie Daley and Kathy Sebelius owe much more to Planned Parenhood, SEIU, ACLU, and the Gay Liberation Network than they do to Holy Mother Church.

Religious Jews, most Black Congregations, Evangelicals and Catholics remain fiercely opposed to Abortion and Homosexual Marriage. Rev. Al Sharpton & the very eclipsed Rev. Jesse Jackson, notwithstanding, represent GE, the ACLU,SEIU, Planned Parenthood, and DNC more than they do African American Americans. GE pushed Rev. Al onto MSNBC after tossing out a fat Young Turk.

Jews, Catholics and Christians understand Atonement. Atonement is the root of Judaisim and therefore the foundation of Christianity. Atonement means much more than saying "I'm sorry for calling Jews money grubbing diamond merchants and Catholics Homophobic Pedophile Loving Drunks and Evangelical Christians Snake-handling Hillbillies. Really. If it means losing power, I am truly sorry."

Atonement means return in Hebrew. Some Catholics like to think of atonement as akin to returning old pop bottles for the deposit. Genuine Catholic spin on atonement goes much deeper than mere reconciliation. Sorry don't cut it. Like the Jews we must 'return' to Christ -not as we'd like HIM to be - an affable moral relativist -'Hey, who's to say, Hickey? You meant to be a good man - charitable, devout, honest, faithful, sincere - here's your participation medal - come on in!'

Nope, Atonement goes far beyond taking a pew. The voters in the New York District offered Democrats a lesson in atonement.

If you want "It's All Good!" turn on Rev. Al and Keep it Rea'!"

Schakowsky: Helen Thomas ‘is awesome’ – The Hill – MSMDC News (blog) - Jan Wants Israel Emptied of Jews Too?

Normally it’s White House correspondent Helen Thomas who asks all the questions. But the seasoned reporter traded places on Friday with Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) at the lawmaker’s annual Ultimate Women’s Power Lunch in Chicago, where Thomas was the guest of honor.
Schakowsky, who chairs the Congressional Women’s Caucus, interviewed Thomas before a crowd of more than 1,500 supporters. The lawmaker told ITK that the correspondent, who turns 90 later this year, “outlasted” her all day. Luckily, Thomas shared her secret.

“I asked her how she does it, what keeps her going every day,” Schakowsky said, “and she had the best answer: She told me, ‘Being angry keeps me strong.’ ”

Asked by Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com if she had “any comments on Israel,” Thomas replied, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”

Thomas went on to say that the Palestinian people “are occupied and it’s their land” and that Israelis should “go home” -- to Poland, Germany, America “and everywhere else.”

Awesome. This north shore nitwit just keeps giving, giving and giving!

News Media Love Kiddie Diddler Roman Polanski and Hate Mel Gibson?

"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said"
Mel Gibson to Dean Richards of WGN

"A$$hole." -(sotto voce) to Dean Richards of WGN

Mel Gibson is a Catholic. The Press hate him. The camera and the fans love him, Sweethearts.

He seems like a good guy.

Dean Richards of WGN Radio and TV and Medill check casher tried to gotcha Mel about a drunk-driving, booze fueled Jew -baiting rant years ago. Is he an anti-Semite? Hell I don't know.

Shucks, Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan are all getting quality press after some solid Hymie Yarmulke Yanking and threats of Genocide.

Jews and Catholics seem to get along here in Chicago. I get my Mick up whenever Jews are targeted.

One of my happiest memories was watching my cousin jump out of the car I was driving and cold-cock a Frank Collin American Nazi at 63rd and Kedzie in 1974.

Mel Gibson is a talented guy, a deeply flawed guy, a pretty sincere guy and he is a Catholic. Jim Caveziel a very talented guy and guy who seems to be pretty squared away is also a Catholic and he gets pretty dim treatment from the American Media that soft-soaps race baiters, lesbian psychotics, Abortion Happy harpies, dope snorting comics, and child molesters who mouth Progressive platitudes.

Mel Gibson seems like a good guy. No less a Jewish talent than Jackie Mason thinks so as well.

Dean Richards? Well, old disc jockeys need a shtick, too I suppose.

A Priest Hits a Rabbi

An Irish priest and a Rabbi

A middle aged south side Irish priest and a young Rabbi get into a car accident on Western Ave. Father Marty O'Hara of St. Philerup Parish of Over -By- There T-boned Rabbi Ezrah Mendel of Temple Bar Beth Israel from Out-by-Flossmoor at 108th street when the Rabbi was pulling out of DiCola's Fish.

Both clerics get out of their cars and stumble over to the fish market parking lot.

Rabbi Ezrah says, "My God, What a wreck!"

Father Marty asks him, "Are you all right, Rabbi?"

You see they had met at an inter-faith breakfast at St. Nick's Greek Orthodox on 103d this summer.

Then, the dazed, bruised and wronged Rabbi Mendel responds, "Just a little shaken."

The Canaryville raised priest pulls a Half Dog of Powers Irish Whiskey from the deep right-hand pocket of his De La Salle Meteors Windbreaker and says, "Here, drink some of this - it will calm your nerves."

Rabbi Ezrah takes the flask and drinks it down and says, "Well, what are we going to tell the police?"

"Well," The formerly red-headed Stiff-colar says, "I don't know what you're gonna say to the Bulls, Bub - But I wasn't the one drinkin'."

. . . The Blue Lights rushed down Western.

Teasing hurts . . . but it's funny as Hell!
